Item and CraftLoc templates

I suggest a new standard for naming all charms especially in crafting shops, maybe in item->craft references or somewhere else as well. I think it would help you find what you want, but it is a bit tedious and unelegant since you have to replicate data to lots of places. Since it's a bit laggy lately I thought I'd just post this instead of changing everything yet. Made a simple Template:CharmRef for it, though.

Okay. Templates are the wrong way to do this since you can't do anything fancy with them, you have to do everything manually. Removing that stupid template. I still think that linking convention is good, though. --Slobber 13 July 2008

Animal + Pet Categories Overlapping

If you go to Pets from the front page you get a much shorter list than the amount that is on Animal

I think a consolidation is in order.

Bot hacking

There's some kind of bot that keeps editing our Main page with non-Estiah-related stuff... Could it be possible to make this Main page only editable by registered users ???

Armor/Ward tables

I think these are kinda neat, but how are you supposed to edit them? Also, Shield Bash should be changed to Armor Projection. --Smashy December 28 2008

    • I made the changes, although Armor Projection seems sorta ambiguous. Hopefully someone that knows more about how it works in-game can make a page about it soonish.--Vecusum 21:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
      • Armor/Ward projection = deal melee/magic damage equal to your own armor/ward (up to a fixed maximum) -- Azharh
        • I'm certainly grateful for additional information but that's not exactly what I meant. More of a discussion on mechanics related to and involving it. Something like this, that page even has a nice portion with discussion on the history of thing. Although that might not be as viable here as that page was made as the skill was.       • Is there a way to set the alternating colors as a style instead of assigning the colors directly to each cell? I don't know my wiki commands well. Having to propagate all of the color changes manually is a deterrent to editing the table as many have said. Alternatively, can we simply just make it a regular black and white table?         • MediaWiki:Common.css, though I doubt anyone can actually edit it outside of GreeezyC. Unless Greeezy decides to make some more sysops I'm thinking that we might end up needing to fork the wiki. The adbots are getting out of hand, and things like what you've just brought up need someone with the necessary privileges to fix them. The prerequisite extensions and such to make this wiki truly useful are also sadly absent, and will need the owner himself to do some stuffing around to add them in. --Anon 06:35, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Instead of targeting the cell, put a style on the wiki table and alternating rows. Example:

I prefer to set the entire table to the specific non-white color and set the target rows to white. That way, if someone decides to modify the example from black to blue they only have to change one line. --Hrist 02:03, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
All of the methods listed above, whether you use color codes, setting only target rows, or style sheets with alternating table row classes, require a propagated change all following rows in order to insert data mid-table. We don't need alternating row colors to make a readable table, see Jobs for example. --H4ngedm4n 07:09, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

New main page

Fine w/ me

looks great, but shouldn't Battle Skills go to the Battle page instead of the Charms page?

New main page changes...

  • Much of the game revolves around charms, so charms replaces skills as a main category. This allows for access to listings of Buff, Debuff, Spirit, Willpower, and Tech charms directly instead of going to the associated skill. Skills can be accessed from Character already.
  • City and Market sections separated. City is now a list of cities, and Market is things in a city. Items moved to Market section, since items are often bought/sold/used for crafting at the market.
  • Pets given own section to expose Animal Fighting and Animal Racing to main menu, as these are important parts of the game.
  • Various aspects of Guild function added, pages requested. Don't need a listing of some guild buildings on main menu, a pointer to such a list is sufficient.
  • No need to expose trade skills at main menu, accessible from character
  • Added linkability to section titles, which unfortunately caused some incidents of Red/Blue on black, rather unreadable. Changed to white background temporarily.

Has anyone here got the power to block accounts/IP addresses? As we seriously need to stop this from happening...

Just PM me with the IPs that need banned, it's a relatively straightforward thing for me to do. -Kas

Gatherings

Whoever did them screwed most of them up. Rank should go by the rank actually assigned to them ingame, Do Not Reuse Game Terms For Your Own Preferences, it compromises whatever value your edit would otherwise add and makes it so that no one can be sure what the hell any of the pages using the term mean. --Vecusum 01:52, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Links to the pet pages from items they eat.

I'm not sure how helpful this would be to have these be exhaustive. I've seen it in there ONCE. When I search on an item, I often find that potential uses (such as feeding to a pet) do not come up. I'm not sure we want a link to EVERY pet for everything that they can eat.

I was thinking perhaps just the beneficial ones?

In other words, every pet that a food item has a positive stat impact upon?

I've seen it done, by something that said "used to build an ant farm." I wasn't expecting to reach a pet page when I clicked. Poobah 04:20, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

  • I want to clarify something about pets' stats & mood.
    • 1. There are no "oh it doesn't like it! it's not happy now!" items. EVERY item except Vitaminized Candy improves the mood of every pet by X (I mentioned the candy because it's power is like 4* or 5* higher). And, as far as I know, there are no rules like 'feeding the wolf-like pets with meat/fishes gives them X+2 points to mood' etc. It's just a static X amount for every item. No matter if it's cheap and easy to buy Dust Kata, or unique Chopley's Blind Donkey. You can even feed your pet with a Pebble - it's still that X. (dunno about the items giving runes though)
    • 2. The "nameofyourpet didn't like Item." message is very confusing. There are three (or four? I forgot) circumstances, when You'll see it:
      • A.) Your pet's Growth is 100/100 and You feed it with a item that gives +1/2/3 to one of the 4 stats.
      • B.) Your pet's Growth is 0/100 and You feed it with a item that gives -1/2/3 to one of the 4 stats.
      • C.) You feed your pet with a item that gives or takes no stat points, in other words that item has no effect on your pet's attributes (regardless of it's Growth).
  • The problems:
    • First. There are sections in pet pages called "Didn't like" (or "Doesn't like" etc). This is really confusing, especially to the new players. Why? The first thing that comes to their mind is "Oh! my ninja cat doesn't like it, which means the mood doesn't improve... but err it has improved anyway hmmm... maybe it just didn't improve by a normal value?... eh ok, I will feed my animal with this item no more". But that guy comes to wiki, to validate his theory. And what happens? Eh... The wiki shouldn't confuse even more.
    • Second. Players are adding items to "doesn't like" section, though they actually have some effect on the pet's attributes.
    • Third. Players are adding items that have no effect on pet's attributes to "pet dietary chart".
  • Now, the solutions (which are very simple and easy to implement):
    • 1. Change the name of "Didn't like/Doesn't like" section in every animal page to something like "No stat-change items" or "Items that don't have an effect on stats/attributes" or "Zero stat items".
    • 2. Remove every item that is placed in pet dietary chart though it's a 'zero stat and no rune', and move it to section mentioned above.
  • Please make a comment (here or @forum) and correct me if I'm wrong about something.

I like this idea, but why so paranoid on spoilers? The disclaimer on the first page is enough. The linked to pages should just be regular text and readable instead of entirely in black text. Its quite awful to read. -H4ngedm4n 19:48, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure about the separation of the storyline with dungeon info pages. Guess that's something the majority has to decide (though not many folks are talkative around here). Anyway, I totally agree with H4ngedm4n: the back text on black background is very hard to read and not fun at all. Putting them in a separate section and adding a warning with something like 'storyline, might contain spoilers' is more than enough. ~ skrit

I'm all for removing storyline from dungeons. Can we get a vote/discussion/consensus/whatever on this? --Zruda 21:07, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

  • 1. There's no need for blacking out everything in the Adventurer's Diary section - there's already a spoiler-warning on top of the dungeon list. Those who come here, know what's their aim. Even if someone gets here by accident, he is well warned and that's just his choice whether he will reveal something or not.
  • 2. I realised that putting storylines in dungeon pages is a big NAY!. Why?
    • A. Only like... 30-35% of Estiah players read them...
    • B. Even if someone is going to read it:
      • a) the text becomes useless after it has been read once or twice (hey, dungeon pages are made to inform the player what are the attacks/drops of XXX etc, right?)
      • b) it gets really irritating to scroll down those walls of letters few/many times
      • c) being in XXX dungeon, you already have the storyline before your eyes. THAT'S the right time (and place) to read it
    • C. It's just... much better to keep dungeon fights and dungeon storylines separated @Wiki...

Useless edits by non-registered users

http://progenitor-softworks.com/ew/index.php?title=Talk:Book_:_%2210_ways_to_cook_a_Bunny%22 The access to editing pages and discussions should be REMOVED for anonymous users, as it was done on the 'older' wiki... You'd better do that asap, or this new wiki will be swarmed by bots and stupid edits in no time, and then it will be just too late & so much work on replenishing/restoring the old stuff. I've already seen many useless/stupid "ip edits" since the page was moved, and I think there are some people who can confirm that something wrong is in the air ._. IP ban might not be enough - a plenty of ppl has dynamic ip... ~Szymon

list of all charms

i'm not sure if this is where i should say this but i think there should be a page this lists all charms. so if im trying to see what charms are at my level i can look there instead of having to look through all the charm pages -wercool

Check Category:Charm page. There's no point in creating a sortable list of all non-mob charms. Luckily You can do it rune by rune, though.
